Eragon

November 12th, 2009

Eragon is one of my all-time favorite books. This fantasy is written by the great Christopher Paolini.

This tells about a boy who finds a mysterious stone in a forest called the Spine. Eragon decides he could at least trade it for money or food, little does he know he is about to get much more out of the “stone” than he bargins for. The mysterious stone is placed on a shelf in his room. One night he wakes up to find it moving and breaking. He soon realizes that it isn’t a stone, it is a dragon egg. When he reaches out to touch it, it bites him and a strange painful feeling fills him up. He names the dragon Saphira, and she soon grows up to be a big dragon. He hasn’t told anyone he has a dragon living with him, but with how quickly she is growing, he knows he can’t hide her much longer. One man, named Brom, strategically grabs Eragon’s hand and reaveals the mark Saphira left when she bit him. Brom starts to train Eragon to use his magic he has equipped with the mark of the dragon rider. The pair soon heads out and finds their way into many battles. The worst of the battles is against a Shade, a dark magician. They elves and elvens team up with them and help them fight against the Shade and his followers, the Urgals.

This book is the first of three books in the series. I highly reccomend it to anyone who likes adventure, excitment, and a book they can’t put down.
